Rolf Schulenburg is an English painter, born and raised in London and now based in Berlin. He graduated in Illustration at Westminster university and has experimented with a range of disciplines before settling into his current painting practice, from life drawing, to graffiti, stained glass windows, and working for a time as a tattoo artist, he continues to experiment and draw inspiration from a wide range of sources. Having lived many lives and been shaped by his lived experiences of struggle, resilience, and growth, his practice explores themes of impermanence, belonging, spirituality, and the quiet poetry of decay and renewal.

Drawing on both technical skill and an evolving language of symbolism and playful naivety, he is less concerned with surface polish than with authenticity—using art as a way to confront consciousness, time, faith, and the fragile cycles of life. His visual world is shaped by his striving to understand and shine a light on both the joyful and the painful, the beautiful and the grotesque, while still maintaining a sense of humor when exploring darker subjects, thereby keeping a subtle thread of hope.
