Present by Davina Gescha
Winebar NOMI is proud to host the second edition of its collaboration with Davina Gescha, presented by POLLAKS. Following the success of the inaugural event, this edition deepens the ongoing dialogue between NOMI’s intimate cultural setting and Gescha’s powerful, visionary works.
At the heart of Gescha’s practice lies an exploration of human vulnerability, sensuality, and transformation. Her paintings often hover between figuration and abstraction, using heightened color palettes and sensuous forms to challenge conventional notions of identity, desire, and perception. Saturated hues, luminous surfaces, and meticulously rendered details create works that are as psychologically charged as they are visually arresting.
In her own words, Gescha sees her work as a bridge between inner states of being and external expression. Each painting becomes a site where tension and fluidity coexist—a way of translating emotions that resist easy definition into images that demand presence. Her pieces invite the viewer into a dialogue that is as much about looking outward as it is about looking inward.
By situating Gescha’s work within the social and convivial environment of NOMI, this second edition highlights the transformative potential of art beyond the traditional gallery context. The event underscores POLLAKS’ commitment to expanding the platforms in which contemporary voices are experienced, and to cultivating encounters where art becomes part of everyday life.

Ambience by Albrecht Doering
Pollaks is pleased to exhibit an exclusive evening dedicated to the unveiling of a new exhibition featuring the work of Berlin-based contemporary artist Albrecht Doering.
Doering’s practice is rooted in an exploration of how color, texture, and emotional resonance intersect on the canvas. His works often oscillate between bold, saturated tones and delicate gradients, producing a rhythm that is at once contemplative and charged with energy. This duality—between intensity and quiet subtlety—has become the hallmark of his visual language.
The exhibition presents a curated selection of pieces that reflect Doering’s ongoing investigation into the materiality of paint and surface. Layered textures evoke tactile depth, while luminous shifts in hue create a sense of movement that extends beyond the frame. The result is an immersive encounter with painting as both an emotional and physical experience.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to hear directly from Doering in a live artist conversation moderated by Anna Darn, offering deeper insights into the evolution of his creative process, the cultural and philosophical influences behind his practice, and his vision for contemporary abstraction. Following the discussion, the atmosphere of the gallery will transform with a DJ set by guest artist Baby Haze, further emphasizing the connection between visual and sonic environments.
This exhibition and its opening program mark a significant moment in Luzii’s cultural programming, underscoring the gallery’s commitment to supporting innovative artistic voices that challenge and expand the language of contemporary art.

Superstitions by Sebastian Jauregui
POLLAKS is proud to announce a new chapter in curatorial collaborations: together with NOMI Winebar, we unveil a biannual series of commissioned works by outstanding contemporary artists — beginning with Colombian-German painter Sebastian Jáuregui.
Jáuregui, a graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, has built an international reputation for his evocative paintings and sculptural works that navigate cultural identity, memory, and collective ritual. His pieces are held in prominent private collections across Europe and the United States.
For this commission, Jáuregui presents a deeply personal body of work, rooted in the superstitious rituals of his Colombian upbringing in Germany. Childhood beliefs — once dismissed as trivial — reemerge in his practice as vital, living links to cultural identity. Exploring how superstition operates as a universal strategy for confronting the unknown, Jáuregui offers a lens into the fluid interplay between personal memory and broader societal narratives.
'Superstition' is on view until June 2025 at NOMI Winebar

Modern Fresco by Paul Kuntze
Paul Kuntze: Reviving Classical Inspirations Through Contemporary Expression
Paul Kuntze’s fascination with ceiling paintings began as a child, staring in awe at the frescoes that adorned the ceilings of old churches, museums, and castles. His curiosity about how painters achieved such precision and detail in monumental works high above inspired his own artistic journey. Kuntze’s current series, "Modern Fresco," is a homage to these classical works, reimagined through the lens of abstract expressionism.
In "Modern Fresco," Kuntze draws from the grandeur of Baroque ceiling paintings, depicting scenes of the heavens and gods while adding a modern twist. His technique invites viewers to engage with the art, using their imagination to interpret the hinted figures and faces embedded within layers of clouds. His work showcases a precise mastery of contrast, beginning with gradient backgrounds created using acrylic sprays, followed by layers of ethereal clouds, and culminating in sharply rendered figures that evoke a sense of timeless wonder. Each brushstroke is a testament to Kuntze’s dedication to both precision and aesthetic beauty.
Spindler: A Historic Setting for Artistic Innovation
Housed in a historic building on Paul-Lincke-Ufer, Spindler’s carefully restored spaces serve as the perfect canvas for Kuntze’s modern masterpieces. Designed by Karolina Preis and restaurateur Frank Spindler, the restaurant’s interior features handcrafted furniture and thoughtfully curated antiques, blending old-world charm with contemporary sophistication. The addition of Kuntze’s art transforms the space into a living gallery where patrons can enjoy not only a top-tier dining experience but also a journey through artistic epochs.
A highlight of Spindler’s unique ambiance is its lush green garden, a cozy retreat that remains inviting even in inclement weather thanks to a spacious vintage awning. The serene outdoor space complements the ethereal quality of Kuntze’s work, creating an atmosphere where art and nature intertwine seamlessly.
